Class Dojo brands itself as (free) Behaviour Management Software but I think it's more than that. It's an exciting, visual tool which allows teachers to allocate (and remove) points to paricular students to acknowledge various positive and negative behaviours. These range from Class Participation to Homework Not Completed. What's more, you can add your own category (such as "Hands Off Policy Broken" or "Augustinian Value Demonstrated") to realyl personalise the environment.
At the end of each lesson, students' totals can be automatically summed and reported on so that teachers, students or even parents can access this information and find out what happened in class. It is then up to the teacher to appropriately reward students who end up with high scores and potentially sanction those who finish the lesson 'in the red'...!
Just imagine having a detailed report on student behaviours where you can refer to each and every positive and negative behaviour which occurred in class at a parents evening.
The software is entirely online and can be running in the background whilst you teach normally, continuing to use the IAWB for example. In addition, there is a free iPad app and a free iPhone app so that you can link your account to another device whilst you teach.
Although Class Dojo would appear to be best suited for Years 5 - 7 core teachers, you'd be surprised how exctied older students get about it - especially when they find out they can choose their own monster/alien avatar.
Oh, and once again, it's FREE!
